Envy on the Coast is about rhythm. Always has been. Didn’t figure it out till a year or so ago…but it’s about the groove. It’s about the pocket. It’s not about math. It’s not about technicality. It’s about making people think that your drummer and your bass player were pushed out of the same womb.

Youtube auditions. Sleepless nights jamming with “pro” drummers. There are things in this world that can’t be taught. It’s not about how fast you can play. It’s not about how hard you can hit.

I need some soul in that kick. I need some life out of that snare. I need to be able to dance like James.
